North Okanagan
Aboriginal Health Project
In the 2002/2003 fiscal year, the Social Planning
Council for the North Okanagan - Aboriginal Health
Project (SPCNO-AHP) received one-year funding from
Health Canada via the national Voluntary Sector Initiative.
This innovative project developed a new model for
engaging aboriginal communities and health authorites
in the formation and implementation of health care
policy impacting aboriginal communities. North

Shelter - 2800 33rd Street, Vernon. Operated
jointly by the John Howard Society–North Okanagan/Kootenay
Region of B.C. and the Vernon and District Women's
Centre Society. 25 emergency shelter beds for men
and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
